Only One Airgun!

Post by Hunter » Sat Feb 17, 2007 4:32 am

Hi All,
If given a chance to choose between the Diana52 or 350 Magnum,or the HW80 in .22,which one would it be?
Your expert comment on the above would be most welcome.
Many Thanks//Hunter

Diana 350 Magnum.... cause its the latest from diana and very pewerful air rifle.

This long-range shot air rifle is specifically manufactured for the highest ammunition speed. It has a hunting-style stock with a checkered finish on the pistol grip and on the front stock. The match type trigger, the automatic safety, the rail for scope mount and the sight cover for replaceable sights are self-explanatory. Diana 350 Magnum gives Magnum-plus power! The Model 350 produces a velocity of 1250 fps.

MODEL 350 SPECIFICATIONS:
Caliber: .177 and .22
Barrel Length: 19-1/2” Weight: 8 lbs. Length: 48”
Stock: Monte Carlo beech stock with cheek piece and checkering.
Features: Single shot, .177 – 1250 fps velocity; .22 – 1050 fps velocity.

Used all three and it's a no contest. The HW80K is superior to the other two air-rifles.

In second place would be the Diana 52.

The 350 Magnum would only find a place in my gun cabinet if it came gratis. I would then sell it to someone who makes his choices by reading ad copies and use the proceeds to buy something better.

danish,

remember reading mario's comments on the magnum , saying he found he couldn't hit a barn door with it. plus, like all dianas, this was a scope basher.
anand

p.s. mind you , he did conclude he sold it hurridly to a friend who could (hit a barn door with it)

Anand,

That bloody 350 is a muzzle heavy jarrer of an airgun.

Here's an old saying for the power hungry brigade - Power without control is nothing.

Hi Danish,
I agree with Rustom on the 350 mag.If u look at the straightshooters web site, after extensive testing , they have discovered that the 350 does not actually put out the velocities that have been advertised!particularly in .22,its lower by approx 200 fps!
However they do add that its reasonably accurate though. The Diana 52 is very close to power (once settled in) to the 350!The HW80 does not make it to those power levels but the accuracy is better. But barrel droop is something to contend with in the HW80!
Hhmmmm...anyway guys go on with your comments!

Mack The Knife/Anand

I have never tried HW80 but i have used diana 52 and 350 magnum both and if i compare with diana 52 then i must say that 350 magnum is far much better than diana 52. I have not given my comment by researching on the net, i have used both the air rifles and then i came to this conclusion.

Diana 52 is very heavy, so is the 350 Mag. It has a very uncomfortable lenght of pull, and is not easy to aligh for somebody like me who is only 5 ft 8".

On all parameters the HW 80 outperforms all. In .22 calibre it delivers close to 900 fps which is excellent.

The accuracy of this rifle is unparralled in Airgunning trivia. It comes to the shoulder very easily and packs that MAgnum punch.

The Barrel droop makes scope mounting difficult but even with Iron sight game upto 30 yards is felled with outstanding accuracy.

Today was a Saturday, a holiday. Went out with my gang to the desert.

Shot lovely pictures of 9 Grey partridges, 2 Piegeons, 14 Ring dove and a solitary grey hare.

In .22 calibre it delivers close to 900 fps which is excellent.
You would need to use a light pellet to achieve that sort of velocity. Something like 12 grains or lighter.

Getting close to 900 ft./sec. with 16 grain Gamos or even 14.6 grain H&N FTT would only be possible if the rifle were dieselling heavily or was over-sprung. There have been reports about the HW80K achieving 23 ft./lbs. they were not considered pleasant to shoot.

The '80K is best retained as a 20 ft./lbs. air-rifle.

Danish, if that is the case then you have used a very poor example of a 52 and a superlative example of a 350 Mag. It's the only explanation I can come up with which explains your preference for the 350 Mag.

And next time when you are asked to choose between three rifles and only have experience of two, do mention you have no experience of the third. Otherwise someone reading your post may buy something you recommend, when he could have had better for the same money. For many it is a once in a lifetime purchase.

Mack The Knife, there will be no regret if anyone buys a diana. Diana is always the best. The oldest and the best. I have one diana model 35 which my grandfather bought of 30 Rs when he was in his twentys and still that air rifle is in mint condition and its the dead accurate air rifle still. I will post its pic some day. So i have more faith on diana and i will always suggest to go for diana.

Really?

Stick to the subject. Namely, the Diana 350 Magnum, which you find so wonderful. Alternatively, you could zip up and stop misleading the punters.
