Steadily Crossing 90s

Post by nmondal » Sat Sep 14, 2019 8:28 pm

Hi Guys, in the last 7 days -- I am crossing 90s, consistently.

Image Image Image

First series is not coming up properly -- it is close to 90/100 but not 90. Suggestion by Instructor : Do more on the sighters.
On a side note -- he is convinced that I won't need a better gun, at least even for nationals, and he also said -- ever, really.

I do think if one can hit consistent 95+ with each series on paper targets using this gun, then do we need anything better, really?
What do you guys suggest?
Money is NOT a constraint for me, but I really want to find the limit for this "cheapest" gun. :deadhorse: :stupid:

Great shooting man.
Thank you sir.
This is today, in range ( 362 )

I am getting good grouping at both home and range - just that the centre is off.
Compare this with home :

I guess at home, lighting ( LED Battery operated Lamp ) creates a problem - site pictures move right or below.
Fixing this with external power source -- will try today and update.

Here is what my instructor has to say:

So.. lots of work left. When you are 38 and doing a full time job and shooting... sorta hard. But... that is :deadhorse:

Switched to Left Eye

Post by nmondal » Thu Oct 17, 2019 8:51 pm

There were issues while shooting with the right eye, I am cross-eyed. My right eye sees to the right, more and more. Thus there was a problem, I have to slide my rear sight to extreme right. Now, due to geometry, this sight is fully dependent ( both in terms of left/right and top/down ) on the precise distance of shooter to the target.
Thus, when i was changing the distance, the shots were moving left/right, while also dipping down or moving up.

Shooting using right eye solved that problem.
I went to Durga Puja, now back and shooting from Monday, so new eye and sight.. scores dipped.
Today I scored 89, which is OK I suppose.
Here is how it looks like:

Image

The shots are now centre aligned no matter where I move and which direction I move. All the time.

Post by nmondal » Sat Oct 19, 2019 7:25 pm

Out of target paper, out of air, going to the range tomorrow post Durga Puja. All set with Left Eye I presume.

3 bad shots, two towards right, one a bit low almost 8.
Bad, got to fix them.
Fingers crossed.

Post by nmondal » Tue Oct 22, 2019 12:10 am

Hi Guys, need a little bit of favour.

Some shots are coming great, some are shifted towards right.
Why so?
What do I have to do?

Hey how much this pistol will cost today??
i will have to tell you some incidents to understand my problem and my question better.
I am newbie shooter my coach says that I have a very good control and ability to hold weapon still. After 10 days wall holding he asked me to shoot on two cards 10 shots each.
Pistol used was PRESSIHOLE. Results were...
1. First card 9*2 + 8*4 + 6*4 = 64/100
2. Second card 10*1 + 9*2 + 8*2 + 7*3 + 5*2 = 72/100
I am not able to figure out how to post pictures so I wrote down my scores 🙂

Now my coach says he hasn't seen such a good grouping on a first day itself and praised me by telling everybody to clap for me. I want to ask is it really that good score ? I am clueless about this sport.
Next day again he told me to take only five shots on one card and I got
9*3 + 8*1 + 6*1 = 41/50.
He then said to me that if i practice shooting every day for a month i will compete with his best shooter and in 6 month or so i will get grouping in 9-10 only.

My coach says to me that i should buy a good pistol and start competing as early as possible.
But i am an Extra departmental contractual govt employee with meagre 14000 salary. I can not afford a 1.5 - 2 lakh pistol. My age is 22 years. I also had some liking towards pistols . But now i am shocked by hearing costs.
Even if i have to buy a pistol i will have to take a personal loan through some bank.
Hence i want to minimize my costs and get the most out of my pistol in order to get medal at national atleast bronze.

As an expereinced shooter do you think....

Is there career in shooting at my age ?
Will our govt support shooter of 25-26 age for Olympics?
Am i really a good shooter?? or my coach is telling me just to buy a weapon. (As there are only two pistols for 6 shooters in our association)
Will hammerli ap 20 pro make me a national or international level shooter if I pour my heart in this sport with 2-3 years practice ??
Or should I buy second hand morini / Steyr ??

Hi nmondal,
Assuming you are still practising in SATS, can we meet? I have just started with 10m air and would like to get a feel if your AP20. Most of the folks I see here are using Steyr and Morini.

Thanks!
