Are there any members in IFG who has faced similar problems were their consignment has got stuck as their import has been a restricted item?

Opinion please?
Of course ; and the item was 0.177 Pellets

More about it here... http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4625

HI,
is the import of 177 caliber pellet banned?
,below is the link which clearly says that there is no duty for the same,
how can they ban a product and say ther is no duty for it, seems there is no logic behind this
http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cs-act/n ... 20-2k8.htm.

Babu - Trust me that document holds no good.

I was also convinced by seeing that same document. Govt Babus are clever to trouble people as that document doesn't specify who should import the rifle, the clarity on that document is NIL.

Dear PK Jeetesh,

As I said before, your guidelines are very clear, but what if I am not a member of a rifle club? Can I still import a 0.177

Will it be illegal if someone brings this for me as personal baggage?

I also wrote to you a PM on this and would be happy to get a response.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Atanu

This is something new.

Vikrant, please throw some light on the info that you received from the customs.

But I guess there is an act which allows import of fire arms with scope mounted.

However the Air Rifle can't be classified as a fire arm

Dont go by tracking information....they can frighten you with their one liners....

Go to the UPS facility in Chennai....while at the facility, call up border clearance cell at Mumbai 022 28276238, 28276239, 28276402 and ask them what EXACTLY they require.....you may have to send the following immediately to UPS Mumbai..

1. original membership ID card
2. original letter from your club/association
3. DGFT notification regarding import of .177 cal air rifle

Babu,

Did you import any extra ammo or accessories along with your rifle?

Speak to the UPS guys and they will be able to help you out in clearing the consignment.

GUYS,

my gun reached mumbai on 17 th of this month, after couple of mails and phone calls to customer care the UPS guys contacted me and asked for a GUN licence, i was shocked
Then i explained bout air guns, calibers, and dgft notifications, etc .and sent them my invoice , my membership idendity card and the copy of dgft notification. again they called me after two days and said
since i am a member from madurai rifile club, they want a letter from the rifile club, and a authorisation from notari public( which i hve never heard before)
is there any rule which states that the letter should ne notorized?
REGARDS
BABU

Hello Babu,

UPS is really bad at handling Air Rifle shipments and they don't keep the customers in loop.

I have called them up every single day since the time the parcel reached Mumbai.

I have sent a whole bunch of documents which were notarized. Still haven't heard back from them.

But a Notary public sign is must as that is the only proof which states that these documents are original.

Keep me posted on the progress.

Babu and Manicks.....did you receive the CUSTOMS DETENTION SLIP?.....if YES...then provide them with the required documents mentioned in the slip......Babu...you can very well provide a letter from your club authorized by the Notary?...is that difficult?.....and Manicks....your shipment seems to be in the docks...the pellets and scope you imported along with the gun are RESTRICTED items....

HI PK JEETESH,

I have sent the notorized copy of rifile club membership letter thro mail, but they want the orginal to be notrorized, (both id and letter) to be sent via courier.
my letter is laminated with the photo( tamper proof) how can i notorize that, they are really driving me crazy.
do you know any one from the mumbai customs so that i can talk to them regarding this.
