Hello Soravjeet,

Sorry for the delayed response. I just came by your post you have to get it with you in flight when your coming back and declare it with the indian customs when you land. You have to satisfy all the TR rules. You should be having a valid indian license for it in which you can endorse your weapon. There is no import permit in india customs will impound the weapon one its reaches. In my case i applied licence after i was back in india but this not advisable as i was able to get the license very fast it is difficult to get in big city like mine but if you already have a licence then the process will be more favourable for you. Keep the copy of the laws in your hand sometimes customs officials are not aware of these rules also. This is very complicated and hard process to do but not impossible if you know what your doing and able to pull it off. Let us know what handgun your getting.

Thank you.

Thank you for your kind response surajshuresh. I am currently confused between following handguns:
1 . Colt gold cup .45 acp
2. Dan wesson specialist commander version .45 acp
3. Smith & Wesson 1911 PC .45 ACP

hi suraj, firstly thanks for the very informative post.

can you please add more details around customs duty (154%) like how much did you pay for your firearm when you purchased it, how do customs interpret the value (any depreciation on old firearms?) and how the 154% is calculated or how much customs duty did you pay?

Thanks
Dinakar
