Please see the attachment (English version).

For those of you who are not members here you can directly click on https://www.indiansforguns.com/Arms_Rul ... 0.2017.pdf to view/ download the file without needing to log in.

These may be also be downloaded from www.egazette.nic.in

I have not yet gone through the rules myself (only having gotten the news late at night), would advise everyone to read and draw their own conclusions for now.

Cheers!

As per Section 44(3) of Arms Act 1959, these Rules to become law need to be approved by both houses of Parliament. The Government will try to push these through both houses of Parliament. It is of extreme importance that every reader of this thread must update their M.P.s to block these Arms Rules from getting passed.

The Parliamentary approval in such matters is usually automatic, unless the house moves to make specific changes.

How it can be "automatic" approval unless the opposition party M.P.s are complicit with the ruling party in both houses of Parliament?

Can this be challenged in a court or is it absolute once approved on both houses?

Also what is the next step for currently owned .22 Air rifles?

@snIPer - Seems like it.

The first page itself states - "1. These rules may be called the Arms Rules, 2016. 2 They shall come into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette"

AFAIK while these Rules come into force with immediate effect, they must still be placed before the parliament within a stipulated period of time (and approved/ amended as the house deems fit) OR they will lapse.

Toy guns manufacturers association had to fight a certain politician to keep their business running. Now it's the Government. It's some kind of trend I guess. Every government has to do something dumb.
