Dear All,

As per the current Arms Act of one of the greatest (questionable) democracies in the world, a .22 Air Rifle is considered a firearm and an owner of is a criminal. Many poor rural-area folks may not be aware of this. Anyway, my query is that if someone (read criminal again) has an AK-47 Rifle (illegal for civilians in India), will that person be be also treated at par with someone clinging onto a .22 Air Rifle. Does my query makes sense? It doesn't to me. That's why, posting it here for the opinion of legal experts in this forum.

Regards,

My opinion - 22 air rifle pellet not a firearm cartridge, but for Indian law its = firearm cartridge
But need ban also .177 rifle! and legalize AK-47
