Info regarding license renewal process in delhi after new arms act

Post by sagar_007 » Thu Nov 11, 2021 2:59 am

Hello folks, I just completed my renewal process for arms license in delhi so thought of sharing it here as i did not find much relevant info on the group when i was about to start the process.
So the new process is completely online, you will have to make new login id on delhi police licensing website after which you will have to scan and upload all the required documents and photo . I would suggest to take help of cyber cafe near your home as assembling the docs in the required format will not be easy. I took me 10 mints in cyber cafe to complete the process and i got the acknowledgement of the same on mail and sms from licensing authority .
Next morning i got the mail that my file has gone to local police district for antecedent and verification check. Now from here the process time completely depends on your police station contacts or there efficiency. Through district dcp office it comes to your local police station which might take 10 days or more , then personal from local police station will come to your house for verification also sign of 2 witnesses (neighbour's) will be needed just like it happenes when you apply for new license. After this verification will go to Sho, acp and finally dcp office where again it might take time to reach licensing office.
Once it reaches licensing office you will get the sms or mail to take appointment on there website. And the its very simple just as before , gun inspection and renewal for 5 years in my case with fees of 2500 inr.( Only govt id and license booklet and gun needed and debit card at the office).

KINDLY APPLY FOR THE SAME 2 MONTHS BEFORE YOUR REVEWAL DATE AS IT IS TIME CONSUMING PROCESS NOW.
Thats all folks,😇
Feel free to post any query regarding the same for delhi only
Goodluck😊

Great rundown of the process, sagar. Thanks for sharing. Thanks also for giving your post a title so that, in the future, others will be able to search for it and find your helpful information!!!

Applied my renewal in December 2020. License expiry date 23.02.2021
Police verification came in August 2021 after lot of follow ups. Reason given - Renewal will not be processed till 3rd weapon is deposited and slip is submitted even after having NRAI Life Membership.
3rd weapon deposited in October 2021.
Message from DCP LIc for renewal and inspection came in December 2021.
License renewed only for 2 weapons. Fee was 2500/- per weapon.
Form filling and processing fee done online. Please ask someone who is tech savy to help as files that need to be uploaded have to be in size limit and particular formats.

how can it be 2500, when arms acts says only 1000 per year for rifle, 500 for pistol per year.

For NPB rifle the fee is Rs. 500 per year and not 1000. Please read point no. 3 (c)

To the best of my knowledge, rupees 1,000 per year is only for restricted category (PB) semi auto centrefire rifle, rest are 500 per year.

Incidentally, I'm awaiting my license renewal in Delhi for almost TWO YEARS now! So, as they say YMMV...

Cheers!

Very sad, indeed.
It is always the law abiding and honest, who are victimized.
There were already so many existing restrictions, on holding of an Arms License.
Lately with the implementation of the New Arms Act, things have become even tougher.
The system has made it almost impossible to obtain a new Arms License, or even retain one.
It is difficult to understand the policy.
On one hand the Government is encouraging foreign manufacturers to produce Firearms in India.
And on the other hand, they have laid down stringent rules on compliance, for an individual License holder.
If issue of a New License and Renewal etc. are made impossible, who will/can purchase.
We already have enough harassment to deal with and now this.

Regards,
Jr.

Nayyar has answered it correctly.
Given the state of services I feel it is more than we should be paying.

It's highway robbery, no doubt! Especially if you consider that the maximum number of licensees across India own either Indian made SBBL or DBBL guns, which they likely procured for a lot less than the renewal cost!
