Lost Firearm

Post by avi88 » Sun Sep 08, 2019 11:26 am

Hello All Legal Eagal Gurus,

Just wondering, if one loses a licensed arm, what can be the consequences.

I understand, once 100% sure its stolen, an Fir will need to lodged.

Can licensing authority cancel the license on these grounds?

Any advise on this matter much appreciated.

it becomes your foremost duty to report the loss as soon as its confirmed, to the nearest police station with all details of your lost weapon and license. The circumstances will determine for the police whether it was your negligence or otherwise . In case of negligence the arms license may get suspended till you manage to prove otherwise. It surely would be a dicey situation for the arms owner.

As Marksman says, lodge a report ASAP and take it from there.
