First Impressions are impressive. But availability of .45 ACP ammo, some states not endorsing .45 ACP weapons on licences and long term reliability and service are some issues that I foresee. Nevertheless hopefully the company can surpass bureaucratic hurdles and complete timely test proofing of the weapons so as to stick to their plans of launching it in December 2021. Wishing the best for MSD👍🏻

1. Price will be 3.50 lacs AFAIK
2. Initially they wrote ‘republic’ spelling wrong. This can be seen in the second pic. Later they corrected it.

They should stop trying to cobble up things and aim to bring this instead - a Tangfolio and a CZ

Indian private companies are not going for new products instead they are trying to manufacture traditional weapons like Webley, 1911 and Tokarev.

I think they are afraid of trying something new and wants to be on safe side by manufacturing what is already popular in India.

I wonder why Indian Civilian weapons are so expensive? Do they just want to extort us? or is the taxes, red tape & somewhat outdated infrastructure that drives up the price, maybe a bit of both?

I thinks it’s a bit of both. Even if we consider the 18% GST for a pistol that costs 3.5L, then that figure amounts to 63k that goes to the Govt kitty. 2.9L is still costly for a pistol IMO (compared to OEM costs). The Govt is probably of the opinion that anyone who can afford to buy a gun can also afford to pay the associated tax, so let’s have gun ownership contribute to the exchequer.

Another reason could be that the Govt also might be wanting a way to not make guns an affordable commodity in the country so as to deter more people from owning guns. Nevertheless either of the reasons are a dampener for enthusiasts.

Ban on import of weapons from last thirty five years is responsible for this. Due to the ban, price of weapons went up, then we got used to the higher price and now Indian companies are taking advantages of this.

If Indian companies with collaboration with foreign companies manufacture good weapons then for few years they will get good response as existing license holders will buy their weapons but after that their sale will dip down as new licenses are almost not being issued.

Currently most new licenses are being issued in Punjab only and IOF factory’s civilian weapon manufacturing unit is running due to Punjab dealers only.

I am guessing all of this plus the fact they don't have the economies of scale that American and European manufacturers do.

3.5 lakhs is a very high price, even by Indian standards.
