In the Indian context, it is not a very practical choice, unless you are a registered hunter who is invited by the government to take care of maneaters and rogue elephants. A .30-06 rifle is a much more practical choice.

I'm again reminded of a story I've mentioned here some time ago:

Back in the early 80s, a couple of guys were in the rifle shop when I was present, having bought a 375 H&H chambered Ruger #1. Ruger had always put very nice wood on their #1s, but the Safari models in 375 and 458 Winchester, had the nicest wood of all. This rifle was simply gorgeous.

John outfitted them witha box of Remington ammo; I can still clearly recall the distictive green and yellow box.

Months passed, and one day the #1 was back on John's shelf. I made a comment about the fellow returning it. John chuckled and got out the box of Remington 375 ammo. Opening it, he showed me that only 3 or 4 rounds had been fired. Apparently, the trial shooting session had been somewhat brief.

Even if an Animal is decleared as Maneater or Rouge then also the first attempt is to catch the Rouge and try for a treatment. Not sure about any Maneating Animals.
In 2020, one Black bear was started attacking people and other animals due to some unknown reason. I come to know later that Forest Dept. Took that poor creature for some treatment and shifted it to a reserved forest in Orissa.
Shooting any Animal is out of question except wild boar etc when its required to shoot them to protect farm land.
30- 06 is rightly the best option in Indian context.

Not a practical option in our scenario. My close friend has one Winchester model 70 in 375.
He has fired only 4 rounds in past 10yrs. We enjoy it but for most it kicks and kicks badly. :)

375 H&H magnum rifle is now reduced to the pleasure of masochists' at the range. Go ahead and buy it if you are one of them. Some have them to show off as its believed " A 375 Magnum is a rifle that separates men from boys. I must admit that I too am one of them.
